  1. Has anybody gone through this pre-sale thing with the Sydney Opera House in the past? Any idea as to what time they would be sending that email on May 11th? (When you live a very different time zone, it does matter for setting your alarm in the middle of the night!)

  2. often presales wont give you front seats, Ive gotten better seats on the proper sale date.
I tried for Bat For Lashes at the same festival, and got a better offer on the 2nd day...
I don't know the time for pre sale yet sorry... they said they would email the link to you on the day.

  3. I'd have to agree with Damon, I've also got better tickets in the public sale as well...

  4. But for an event like this, something that will sell out in minutes, it's more important to at least get a ticket, than to worry about your seat. I say go for the pre-sale, take what you get, then try again for the regular sale, and if you get something better, sell the other ticket.

  5. @ Damon, Brendan - Thanks. For previous pre-sales (like for Bat For Lashes), do you remember the time when you got that pre-sale email at all? (Unless you got the pre-sale code some other way...)

  6. its a small venue guys, I dont think they are such things as bad seats really...the church played their 30th anniversary show there recently funnily enough!

  7. Hmm, public sale is on thursday at 9am, so I'm assuming pre-sale will be around the same time on the wednesday. Though it could be 10am or noon. Nothing confirmed on that yet sorry.
To be safe, I'll be up early Wednesday morning with my finger on the refresh button.

  8. does anyone have an idea of the max number of tickets for the pre sale yet ? more than likely 2 but hope it is x4 ....

    ReplyDelete
  9. Don't know about presale, but I was told regular sale will be a limit of 4.

  10. Wow, that's expensive.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Im going for premiums on both nights and with flights taken into account, declaring bankruptcy shortly post gigs.

  12. And I'm betting it will be worth every penny! : ) Once in a lifetime event. Might as well, right?

  13. Ohh, so jealous of you all ;) Will be a fantastic two evenings!!

  14. the really weird part (speaking as an Australian) is to have this completely astonishing gig happening HERE of all places...kinda makes up for the amount of times we've missed out on things over the last 30 years!

  15. Agreed, Australia is proud to host this event.
Depeche Mode haven't toured here since 1994.
Siouxsie, Peter Murphy and Brendan Perry all skipped us on their last couple of tours, thanks Robert!

  16. I have lived in the UK/Europe for the last 10 years and only just moved back to Oz so great timing ! I was gutted to not attend the Trilogy shows but hopefully this can make up for it !

  17. do you think it'd be a good idea for me to buy 2 tickets to secure those seats to a pair of cure fans and resell at face value?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes Andy I think it's a great idea! But if you do get tickets please let me know just in case I don't get tickets and I'll buy from you. ;0)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes Andy. I usually buy an extra ticket for every Cure show I go to and that always makes somebody happy, even if just a random stranger - but not a scalper. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  20. 2nd that andy. I'm going 2 so contact me on facebook if ur planing to sell another. Maggie gets first dibs though :)

Never been to OZ, So excited!!!!

  21. I read the announcement just before I went to bed last night, then I couldn't sleep until four or five.

  22. 180 MINS? 2 INTERVALS?

    3IB = 35 mins
    17SEC = 36 mins
    FAITH = 37 mins

They can play the 3 albums twice ;-)

What will they play during the second interval???

    ReplyDelete
  23. I guess you need to allow for extra time between tracks and...

Maybe they will play Carnage Visors after Faith?

For encore maybe inbetween album singles like Boys Don't Cry or B-Sides?

  24. Thanks for the info, and the tips Craig :) Just one question, though. When do the pre-sales begin? Is it 9 am on the 11th? I need to know whether I need to cut school to stay at the computer refreshing the page every 5 seconds!

    ReplyDelete
  25. This is just the best news. If people can get extra tickets for the show and maybe we could use COF (if Craig is good with that) to co-ordinate meeting up to buy the ticket from them for those fans who fail to get a ticket it would be great.
Its going to be my first time in Australia and to have this also is just really the icing on the cake.
When I told my wife she was gutted as she is not going over (I'm heading over for business meetings).

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sorry meant to ask did anyone get a confirmation email from vivid when they signed up for advanced ticket?

    ReplyDelete
  27. OK so I am confused - they are playing all 3 albums on EACH NIGHT? So the 2nd show will be an exact replica of the first?

    ReplyDelete
  28. didnt get any confirmation email when I signed up irish cure...

    ReplyDelete
  29. hoping to get tix to at least one night...ill be there both nights anyway, hopefully not hanging outside the f**g venue...

    ReplyDelete
  30. evening time in australia, slightly tipsy and full of disbelief still...!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Few things,
is the pre sale for both nights? Going to have to have a team with me to buy haha

    ReplyDelete
  32. Chris: Correct. All 3 albums each night. Identical shows, except maybe for the encores. Just like with Trilogy, they will be filming the shows, so they have the second night as a sort of backup in case anything goes wrong on the first night.

    ReplyDelete
  33. lc988: The pre-sale on May 11th will be for both shows. So if you want to go both nights, est to team up with someone and each try to get tix for separate nights.

You should try for the 31st and have a friend try for the 1st. Both of you shouldn't try for the same night, as the other night might sell out before you can even try for those.

    ReplyDelete
  34. IrishCure: Of course I'm okay with that! : ) Let's do everything we can to make sure fans get the tickets, not the scalpers/brokers. Everyone should buy the max number they can afford, and are allowed to buy, then offer them at face value (plus shipping if necessary) to fans who don't get tickets.

My only worry with this is if fans who are not actually going uy the tickets, will there be enough of a turn around time, to buy them, get them in the mail, sell them, then mail them to the person? We only have 20 days between the ticket sales and the shows. Figure in travel time to Sydney, and we are down to about 17-18 days between buying tix and leaving for Sydney.

What does everyone think? It would obviously be a different situation with those who are actually going to the shows, as you can just take your tickets with you, and give them to the buyers at the show.

  35. The New Kid: They haven't announced the time of the pre-sale yet. That probably won't be known until they send the email out. Don't worry, as soon as it is known, I will post it on the front page and send out via Twitter.

I would expect the pre-sale email to come out the night before (on the 10th), or early morning on the 11th. But that's just a guess.

Everyone should also sign up with Modular, as they will also be sending out pre-sale emails, and will offer a chance to win tix on their Facebook page.

Another tip, though this might seem stupid, make a practice run on the SOH ticket page. Use the Spiritulized show as practice to get use to how their ticketing page works, how to select the seats you want, to pre-register your info so that you don't waste time doing that on the day of ticket sales, to make sure your browser doesn't have any issues loading their site, and stuff like that.

  36. Figure2proue: What they mean by 2 intervals, is that there will be 2 breaks.intermissions during the shows. They will go like this:

    Three Imaginary Boys

    Interval (about 20-30 minutes)

    Seventeen Seconds

    Interval (about 20-30 minutes)

    Faith

    Encores

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah, I know Figure2Proue just said it right above me but thank you for taking all this effort to try and help us get to see a band which means so much to us!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. No problem at all. Working on putting together a page of ticket info and tips right now. Hope it helps everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @Craig,
there's no way that ticket sales would work via standard mail just due to how soon this show is and if you're buying out of the country to get them mailed to you in time. so i'm hoping that they will be able to print out from an email then you could just email your ticket to a fan that pays you back.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm hoping that's the case, Andy. Just want everyone to be careful with that, just in case.

Also need to make sure it isn't a Will Call pick up. If so, it has to be the person who bought the tickets that picks them up.

But I really don't know. Never bought tickets in Oz before.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Also, disregard my "practice with Spiritulized" tip. Use Bat for Lashes instead. They are in the Concert Hall, Spiritulized are in the Theatre. Sorry about that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Craig, are you ok? Your work rate is slacking!;)
    Thanks for all you're doing!Really.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I know, P.M, I really need to get it together, don't I? : )

Okay, guys, I put the ticket info & tips on their own page here.

Let me know if you want anything else added. After the tickets go on sale and sell out, we can use that to post tickets for sale or any other info you guys want. Hotel sharing, car rides, meet ups, whatever you'd like.

  44. Would be great to see Robert in Adelaide before he plays Sydney. He has a lot of family here! Cousins! Maybe play a warm up show at the Exeter! Probably not haha. These shows will be amazing. I was talking to Lol last year and nothing was mentioned about this. Caint wait!

  45. Does anybody know if they refuse european credit cards? For O2 in London we had problems to get tickets with a german credit card.

  46. Thanks again, Craig, for all your amazing work that you do for us fans!

  48. Tickets bought for Sydney, where is a good/cheap place to stay?

    ReplyDelete
  49. shellheart - here's an idea to test out your credit card:

The opera house has an online gift shop, you could buy one of their cheaper trinkets to see if your card works.

  50. Is anyone who lives in the Port Stephens area going??

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thank you, Heron.

Are you looking for a ride to Sydney, Linda?

    ReplyDelete
  52. @Rev.Heron: Thank you a good idea!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Craig, its more that i will be going by myself, so I could maybe take someone. It's quite weird going by yourself to these things. I'm also worried about being able to get a ticket along with everyone else
