Official site update

IGA has posted info on the official site about Robert donating an autographed Disintegration vinyl for auction (which will run from September 20th to October 7th) to aid the West Memphis 3 defense fund. Starting bid will be $100.
“Please bid generously and help free the West Memphis Three - this grotesque miscarriage of justice has dragged on for 17 years too long.” Robert Smith, The Cure.

  1. You know what could raise a lot of money for them, Robert? The only live Cure show of 2010. With a unique setlist : )

Or even a "Special Evening with Robert Smith and friends." There are numerous ways to work around any problems. : )

  3. That's ridiculous. The evidence overwhelmingly suggests that those three are guilty. Of of them even confessed. I love Robert but he's grossly misguided on this issue.

  4. I have always been sceptical on this issue....

  5. JPX - Many people disagree. There's at least some reasonable doubt there, and at the very least, the prosecution was a mess, and there did seem to be a witch hunt for the "odd" kids who dressed weird and listened to that "devil music".

Many innocent people "confess" to things that they didn't actually do. And wasn't the boy who "confessed" actually mentally retarded or challenged?

But I honestly have no idea if they are guilty or innocent. The only info I have on it is from watching the 2 Paradise Lost documentaries, which are excellent, and reading various things through the years, and I have been on both sides of this issue.

I hope no one would simply accept that they're innocent just because Robert has.

  6. A show in London from 'Robert Smith and friends' would be the greatest thing ever. Especially if dedicated to a good cause.

  8. Once again a missed opportunity to allow everybody a chance at this item and probably raise much more money by raffle rather than auction.

  11. Jo - No move. That's a different Craig. This one is still in New Orleans and getting ready for an Interpol tour. : )

  12. @Craig - I knew I had been out of the Cure-y loop a bit lately, but that scared me to think that you had moved and I had completely missed it ;)

Yay for the Interpol tour. I finally got the new album on Friday and am really enjoying it.

  13. JPX- Praise you! You took the words right out of my mouth.

Craig- Who gives a shit if they dressed as odd balls or listen to devil music. Thats an easy excuse and heard it before in many cases. You know what sickens me, the fact that they joked and laugh about what they "claimed" (at the time) they did to those children. Even if they didn't do it, I'm glad they're still rotting in jail for talking shit and acting like hardcore punks. The nerve of Robert and other supporters to contribute to the WM3 release. It seems like everyone forgot about the victims and is doing NOTHING about it!

  14. I could never find this on the auction website, is it gone already? I searched for Cure, Disintegration and autograph, but could not find the link.
