HDNet update

"I asked HDnet if they were going to be putting the Cure concert on DVD also and got this: "HDNet does not have the rights to release this concert on DVD." (Thanks c0sm0kramer5b)

  1. we can't count on anything official anymore if the band won't put out ;)

let's preoccupy ourselves in finding someone who has the blasted channel! anyone? bueller? bueller?

  2. Probably Universal. They seem to own everything these days.

  3. most HDNet concerts are at least 90 minutes... i don't get it.

  4. Maybe an indication that it will be released by TMU? Don't want to give too much away for free?

  5. HDNET is owned by Mark Cuban, same guy who owns the Dallas Mavericks.

HDNET films the concerts for use on their stations, but the footage is available to bands if they want to make a professional release of it. This also works in the inverse, as Morrissey's Who Put the M in Manchester originally premiered on the network.

  6. Just a total shot in the dark last week I called my cable provider (Bresnan Communications) and asked them what we could do to get HDNet and the operator said well do you have and HDTV? I answered yes and she said that I was eligible to upgrade to a new HDTV tuner. I asked how much that would cost me, she said it used to be a pretty penny but now it is free of charge. Two days later the cable guy came and got me hooked up, totally free of charge and there are about 125 channels of programming, in fact the fuse broadcast this past saturday was in HD also... speaking of that, did anyone notice that a few of the songs were different than the original time it played???

  12. Regarding the Charlotte concert video.

Robert said previously that part of the deal with HDNet was The Cure got the rights to use the ENTIRE concert video for anything they wanted ... so maybe he releases a 2008 4Tour video like Festival or it is part of the 30th Anniversary DVD?

  17. to Tim or Screamer - do you guys have a standalone DVD recorder or anyway for you to transfer the DVR recording to a DVD? then i can help into ripping to your computer.

  18. Tim, that's the avenue I've got my hopes in as well. I think The Cure will release it on dvd at some point.

I knew HDnet would only broadcast an hour long show. I've seen too many that were only an hour long on that channel.
