Argentinian Dreams and Exploding Heads

Universal Argentina says they will release 4:13 Dream on Oct. 23rd. (Thanks Ariel@Curerarities)

Barnes & Noble says Exploding Head Syndrome (the 65DOS remix) is 21:26 long. (Thanks Simon)

  1. I am wondering if that is a tad TOO long for a remix. Rather prog-rocky length, eh? I am interested in hearing it, though.

  2. Now we got all the times for Hypnagogic States, thanks Craig.

...Starving for news! I guess it's a good sign about that argentinian release date, we are getting there, perhaps.

Not too long for 4 remix in one, IMHO.

  3. Craig, can you keep posting news so I can waste my last half hour at work doing nothing productive? Tx.

  4. Me too me too!
Not that I can do anything productive right now, there's nothing to do.

  5. Fuck it. In five minutes I am packing up and OUTTA here. ATL traffic sucks and I need to get a move on.

On topic: I am beginning to warm to the 4:13 Dream title quite a bit, with all of its Jungian/temporal implications. \

Or am I just hoplessly BORED?

  6. You are warming up to 4:13 AND bored. What's wrong with that?

  7. That's 21 minutes too long. My heads still hurts from 65DOS. Dreadful.

  8. JPX: Don't knock what you ain't heard. I agree 21 minutes is a bit lengthy, but you never know! And while I wasn't *besotted* with 65 DOS, I think they are credible musicians.

  9. CCAT, of course I'm going to buy this remix album, and you're right, it's not fair to render judgment before hearing it. Twenty minutes, damn. Wouldn't it be funny if it was 20 minutes of actual static?

  10. No, it would suck if it were 20 minutes of static. :-)

I am not sure about this myself, though, either. I mean, each track is what 2-4 minutes in length? So that's 10ish minutes of the songs themselves - what are the other 10 minutes for?? And what's the point, really? What is the point of any of it??

I don't care about the EP. I care about the ALBUM. But don't we all.

  11. Yes, album! Do you think it will be a double, do I dare to dream?

  12. jpx: I have a feeling it won't be double but I'm reeeeally hoping to be proven wrong! :-)

  13. I hope you're right that you're wrong, Jupiter!

  15. Craig,

As a Louisiana native and Hurricane Katrina survivor (now living in the Pacific Northwest), let me be the first to say GET THE HELL OUT OF DODGE!

I hope you and all of your loved ones stay safe.

  16. Let me be the second--my family's all down in Baton Rouge & Crowley--be safe man!

  17. Yeah Craig keep safe man :)

I trust 65 days will do a respectable job with the material and I can't wait to hear it.

  18. an hypnagogic state is sometimes due to a trouble that you can feel when you're on Heroin... what so you think about that ?

  19. The 20 minute remix is quite long. It may be perfect for background music at a party? But of course I haven't heard it yet.
I have listened to the singles a gazillion times now and of the B sides I really like NY Trip more and more. I just haven't embraced Down Under. I think it is over reverberated (mixed?):P I wonder if it will be different on the album.

  21. since it's a b-side, down under won't be on the album, so we'll never know.

hope you're ok down there, craig. stay safe.

  22. Just think if they decided to re-mix Carnage Visors...it might fill an entire 80 minute disc....

    *shudders at the mere thought*

  23. just hope its actually good...i mean they do have the potential the F it all up...itd be just a waste if the do

  24. monkeybutt- oh yeah...guess my coffe hadn't kicked in yet.

  25. Does anyone else actually like 65daysofstatic?

I love them and the whole "post rock" thing. That is a genre that the Cure has really influenced musically and has in turn inspired Robert (he often rates Mogwai as his favourite band). I was really pissed off I missed them at Wembley thanks to the shambles that is the public transport system in this country. I was excited to when they announced they were doing the remix. Having said that, they are certainly an acquired taste and even I might find 21 minutes a bit of a marathon!

  26. It should be interesting when a 21 minute track comes up on my shuffle setting of my iPod. Always fun!

  27. I work at a Barnes & Noble in Michigan. And this is the only Cure CD of all the new releases to be modeled to be on our shelves. I ordered in the singles and pushed them my self so people knew they were out and we sold a good amount.

I found it odd that a remix however would be something we would rather carry in store...

  28. Well 21 minutes can be a bit long but it's a mix of 4 songs and I'm guessing each song is about 5 minutes long in the mix. Lots of club mixes are way longer then this and can get overly repetitive, so I just hope it doesn't turn out like that. Should be interesting to hear what 65DOS does come up with but I keep wondering how loud will it be!

  29. i hate to even post anything before we know about craig...

but the official has been updated...

there is a clip of the only one remix

    and it is god awful

  30. of course i might change my mind... i tend to be impetuous with opinions...

  31. I was just over there myself & I agree with cat so far. Awful I'm assuming it's the remixed version by 30 Seconds to Mars? I'm not liking it but it's only a short clip so I'll wait to say any more till I hear it all the way through!

Well OK I just have a feeling that I know I won't like it much but I could be wrong! Oh I do hope so!

  32. The only thing I want to say is after hearing the very SHORT clip of the TOO remix.......I MUCH prefer the Mix 13 version.

Still looking forward to the EP, but hmmmm......sounds very electronic and almost techno-y.
