  5. If I'm honest, I secretly hope that A Boy I Never Knew is the B-Side for that. Just so that it's released one month earlier... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  6. No way that they would "waste" ABINK on a b-side. I'm sure it will be the lead off single for the "dark album" at Christmas. ; )

    ReplyDelete
  7. Okay... if it goes that way it would be even better. But I guess my dream is way more realistic, eh? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Thanks craig! Great news once again today!!! I'm so excited for A Perfect Boy!!!!!

Thirty more days to go!!! :)

  13. i think the dream album i had would qualify as a dark christmas album. lemme find it, here on the COF boards somewhere...

  14. yay, here it is. perfectly gloomy xmas stuff! a dream i had a couple weeks ago.

    ***

after i was done chasing some girl around this old decrepit house, through silent, spidery rooms unseen for years, we ended up in this incredibly bright green backyard. she pulled a picnic basket out of nowhere like a magic trick, and inside she had copies upon copies of the new cure album.

it was called 'empty seas' and the cover was some strange version of the cover of faith. like a cathedral, dusty and terrifying, with these really creepy faces peering out of the streaked windows.

there were 17 or 18 songs. the tracklist, as best i can remember it, was like this:

    1- intro: the empty seas
    2- shadows inside
    3- something beyond this
    4- always
    5- the cathedral
    6- visions
    7- ?
    8- berryhead (?)
9- death from dreams (i think)
    10- ?
    11- towns
    12- underneath the stars
    13- reaching
    14- various things
    15- ?
    16- the dog and bones
    17- coming into light
    18- scary faces

  15. As from september 13 they should bring out one album every 13th until the final Christmas one called "Underneath the star is a Baby Rag Dog (holy)Book about a Boy I never knew".

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think a dark hexmas album that is the darkest, gloomiest ever made would seriously make our West coast monsoon season far more tolerable... names? Dunno... in keeping with the "Dream 13" motif, perhaps "All Too Real?" Heh. Okay, I suck at names for other people's creative projects... :^P

    ReplyDelete
  17. "It's The Most Miserable Time Of the Year" gets mah vote! :D

    monkeybutt, berryhead???
    RALFs...

  18. sofia, that's one of the ? ones, so maybe it was something else.

    ReplyDelete
  19. i dont have one!
    i'm too excited!
    ...
lol Sofia, that's the weirdest title for a christmas album ever! Or any album!
Me? I vote for Black Celebration! No wait...

Oh I know: The Dark Christmas Album (the one I hinted at and no-one took me seriously but here it is as promised and now will you all shut up for once and enjoy it and I'm tired of you complainers but... ONWARDS!!)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Nightmares 13?

Oh, and Monkeybutt - me too!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Me likey ABP very muchly. Can't wait.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Not to start another "argument", but the song is called THE Perfect Boy. No A in it. : )

    ReplyDelete
  23. I have to wonder if Underneath the Stars will be on the September album. It sounds like it would fit PERFECTLY on the Dark Christmas album to me....

I sort of hope it's not on the September album, actually. That would give some much needed credibility to the Dark Christmas record....

    ReplyDelete
  24. A!

Actually, I wasn't sure and I was going to ask but then I got all shy about it.

So let me amend my post:

    My likey TBB muchly!

    ReplyDelete
  25. tyler, don't give RSX any ideas, PLEASE! cuz i don't want to wait until Xmas 2020 to hear UTS! i agree with you and all, but i want to hear it NOW!

    ReplyDelete
  26. i hope one of the songs is called "Jingle Bell Frock" and it's straight porn!

RSXXX can jingle my bell anytime...

    ReplyDelete

  30. Cat: Only one B in the title. : )

    ReplyDelete
  31. MB: I suck everyday, if ya know what I mean...

Craig, no more Cure news today... I can't emotionally take it! Besides, I need to unpack and then SLEEP.

And I don't wanna do what when I'm dead and all.

    ReplyDelete
  32. er, i mean THAT!

i do indeed suck... in so many ways...

i'm off! no more from moi EVER again!

    ReplyDelete
  33. My official guess on the dark holiday album is -

    "Nightmare before Christmas"

    HA!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh BTW, I don't know if anyone saw these, but I got my Todd Slater Cure poster today! It's so beyooooootiful!

    ReplyDelete
  35. WHAT? i LOVE it! WHY CANT I BUY IT?! D;

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't know Sofia! I had to email them directly to ask about it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. YAY!!!! "The" Perfect Boy.

    I'm excited.....

What... no "Laughing at The Christmas Lights" on the dark album?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh man. Reading these comments and I found the perfect title for the rumored (but, we all know ultimately not gonna happen) dark Christmas album.

    "Dark Christmas"

That's what you call it. Oh man, how deliciously depressing is that?? :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi DA - long time no speak.

How is the job hunting going?

    ReplyDelete
  40. By the way, Craig. You left out the essential new Cure classic:

"Twelve Days of Christmas (Is Twelve Too Many"

Can't you hear Robert Smith Wailing:

    "Twelve shattered pictures
    Eleven daydreams bleeding
    Ten nightmares screaming
    Nine children drowning
    Eight secrets pounding
    Seven fractured voices
    Six selfish choices
FIVE WHISPERED LIES (that always has to be the loudest)
    Four wasted years
    Three million fears
    Two snow-laced tears
And a boy alone by the tree"

    ReplyDelete
  41. DA - that is BRILLIANT! I'm gonna start singing those lyrics ALL the time now.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hey Elise!! Good to see you again. The job hunt continues. I mean, my situation could be much much worse. I'm actually still employed, and when they do finally lay me off, I'll get a heck of a severance package.

But, still I am just so anxious to find a new job. Mainly because they have had us in a situation of perpetual uncertainly for months at my job. Basically telling us: We are definitely going to lay you off. But we're not sure when yet. Its like I've been holding my breath for months and its sucking my soul away.

And its a pride thing. I would love to be able to march in there and say, "You can take your (bleeping bleep) job and stick it right up your (bleeping bleep) and I'll hope that it sticks up there for several days"

    Ya know? :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Craig:

    You can't ride a Bunny!

...And we'll never know until he posts the answer, or till the album comes out...

    :P

    ReplyDelete
  44. Dumb Anguish:

That reminds me of Edward Gorey! <333

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anah, I loved Gorey. I loved him even more when I found out that was actually his real last name.

Oh I'm a big lover of Gothic novels. I just finished re-reading "The Monk" for the first time in a long, long time. Oh was that ever twisted! :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. O.o I haven't heard of that one, I'll go look it up. I am constantly devouring books, and on the look out for more!

    ReplyDelete
  47. DA - there is nothing worse than living your life on a treadmill - knowing that you want to be somewhere else, but every step takes you back to the same place.

I will keep my fingers crossed that the perfect job will come your way soon.

Speaking of work, I really must get back to it.....

    Catchya!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Or for more recent stuff. Anything by Poppy Z Brite. Her first book "Lost Souls" is still my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  49. OK Elise. Good to talk to you again! !

    ReplyDelete
  50. Elise~! Hi hon!! Yes, go back to work, but know that I send you a *hug* :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ah craig, I'm just as guilty as cat calling TPB, APB in my post earlier. I'm not having a good typing day today! 1st FYI instead FYE & now this. I'm losing it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. "Seven fractured voices
    Six selfish choices"

    genius.

    ReplyDelete
  53. DA great reworking of The 12 Days of Christmas!!!

Still looking for a job? I'm just starting looking again, but I just want to get out of the place I'm at. Must be frustrating trying to look for something good before getting laid off! That really stinks! Good Luck to you!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm Dreaming of a Dark Christmas
CD by The Cure come December

Were the songs are moody and kind of depressing.......

    ReplyDelete
  55. A Cure Christmas album would be absolutely perfect. But only if it was gloomy.

    ReplyDelete
  56. not to be a wet blanket - but i dont think the cure will release the christmas album, remember how this current album was due for spring 07? or something like that?
    hows that for depressing.

good luck anguish! all the best to you and your job hunting :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. I've been wanting a Cure Christmas album for YEARS!!! And a Morrissey one too.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Heh, your xmas carols remind me of the ones my sis and I did back in the day... early 80s. We did one about the Three Mile Island nuclear disaster: (Imagine a group of punk rockers singing to the tune of "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem")

    Oh little town of Middleton
    How well the experts lie
Above thy deep and restless sleep
    The radon gas blows by...
    etc

    Heh... good times.

Anyway, xmas time doesn't mean xmas themed, mercifully.

    ReplyDelete
  59. things that will happen when the cure release a 'dark christmas' album in december 08:

    1- my head asplkodes

2- i suddenly play 2 late blindfolded & fluently on my acoustic guitar

    3- PONIES

4- george w. bush admits there were no weapons and he just wanted to fuck everyone about

    5- gas drops to $1/gallon

6- 5tour worldwide, with 4 nights in los angeles, 1 a private event for my bday on the 30th

    7- i write a novel

plus lots of other stuff that will never happen!

    ReplyDelete
  60. hey monkeybutt- but they signed a three record deal yeah?so maybe roberts gonna give us the dark record asap to get him out of the crappy grips of suretone/geffen/universal... then be free to release copious amouts of new material over the net whenever they feel like it:)
