WELL...
TODAYS DOCTOR GAVE ME THE SAME ADVICE AS YESTERDAYS DOCTOR
BASICALLY I NEED TO REST MY VOICE...

WHICH IS GOOD ADVICE
BUT HARD TO DO WITH 4 SHOWS A WEEK!!!

ANYWAY
I HAVENT SAID A WORD SINCE HE LEFT ME
AND I HOPE
I HOPE
I CAN DO A BIT BETTER IN DENVER THAN I DID IN KANSAS...

BUT OUCH
THAT KANSAS SHOW HURT!

...ONWARDS
RSX

I KNOW I KNOW
THIS SHOULD ALL HAVE BEEN IN a quiet voice

  2. But I guess I should wish him well. I feel terribly for him, actually.

    Good luck, Robert!

  3. Oh, yes, CUTE!!! :)

I believe Robert is frustrated with his condition now cuz he certainly wants to give us a perfect show. I should pray for him tonight.

  4. I hope he doesn't push himself too hard and do himself a more serious injury. Let that audience belt out the choruses to those pop songs we all know so well.

  5. Reading this is bitter-sweet. Feels bad that he has to do these shows under such condition...especially when he says the Kansas City show hurts; but the last few lines kills me. He's too cute!!

Junko, let's pray for him tonight together.

  6. oh please oh please robert make it to salt lake city

  7. Please don't pray. Robert's an athetist, remember? ;-)

But yeah - I'm worried he's close to doing some serious vocal damage.

  8. Shorten the set, and pick songs you don't have to belt out/that the crowd can sing along with? An instrumental number in there somewhere maybe?

Hope you're better now, and good luck

    Tom

  9. Oh, don't worry, Clockwise. Because I'm a Japanese, my "pray" is somewhat different from the Western one. Difficult to explain, though...

  10. Junko, I am quite familiar with eastern mysticism. :-)

I was sorta playin' with ya! :-)

  11. Is anyone else surprised that RSX actually knows where the caps lock key is?

  12. oh dear - i wonder if robert realizes the show monday night was in missouri - not kansas :) many make that mistake. hope he doesn't feel too bad - the show in kansas city was SO worth it - it's been so long since i've seen him that he could probably have just sat on the stage doing sign language and i'd have been happy.

  13. i'm not an athiest and i'll damned well pray his voice doesn't crap out on me because if this gets canceled again so help me...

  14. Man, that didn't sound very optimistic. I'm a little worried... :(

And yeah, I am also surprised he knows where the caps lock key is. That last line was pretty funny.

"he could probably have just sat on the stage doing sign language and i'd have been happy."

I'm actually picturing that in my mind...oh well.

Clockwise, I'll pray for him in our mysterious Daoist way in a temple. ;) Or pray for him in my sleep, cos I'm off to bed now...

  16. I think praying for Robert is probably the safest option now, after all the dubious remedies we've been bombarding the poor guy with.

The over-use of the caps lock used to really piss me off, but now if Robert "ALL CAPS" Smith changed his ways, I think I'd kinda miss reading his messages and feeling like my head is going to implode...

  17. Oooops, I didn't notice he was writing in small letter at the end.:-o

  18. Aha, because it's in "a quiet voice"!

  19. corrosiveheadpollution: I'm with you buddy, We've been waiting for this SL,UT show for a year....or I guess since Curiosa. I hope he feels better but I'll take whatever I can get...

  20. Yes, for this being my first Cure concert i was hoping for the best show possible, but it's not really his fault if his voice isn't up to par.... just crap luck for us i guess

    ReplyDelete
  21. Technically this is my first too. Some people don't count Curiosa (I do) so it's really my second. Clockwise Cat, Junko, Jenny, everybody!...pray to what/who ever, do a dance, turn and face the east, burn some candles, break out the terot cards, hang upside down, whatever you can to entice the eternal powers that be to ensure Robert's voice for Friday night...after that, I don't care....(kidding)

  22. He will probably shorten the set tonight, which sucks for Denver!! But then again a short Cure set is still at least 25 songs.

Perhaps do a few instrumental versions?

I went to see Rush... they as well play 3+ hours , 30 something songs...

But they will play 5 songs, then an instrumental, then 3 songs... then a 10 min break..

Then 4 songs, another instrumental, then drum solo...

Plus most songs have long instrumental parts out of 28 songs on this tour, 6 of them are instrumentals or have a small singing part...

    Food for thought RS...

  23. robert, taking a cue from geddy lee... yeah right... and monkeys fly out of the butts of clocky cats!

  24. I'm really worried about Robert messing up his voice. I think in the benefit of the Cure and next weeks concerts. Robert should take not sing tonight or Friday. If he keeps this up we are all going to see bad concerts. I'm scheculed to see Cure next week May 29th and June 1st. After the rescheculed concerts from last October and all the waiting I really would hate to see Rober live with a bad voice.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Curse that person in Toronto who gave Robert whatever it is he has!! :x

Archangel, how dare you suggest he not sing on the night I'm going to see them! :) No, I perfectly understand, there's a part of me that wishes he'd just take tonight off and save it all for Friday...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Robert should just do 2 sets tonight.. play 10 songs take a 20 min rest, come back do another 10 songs, take a 5 min break and do a 5 song encore....

If he blows his voice out tonight it could ruin the rest of the tour.

  27. ya'll are starting to worry me. :-(

i agree with you, millertime - maybe robert will take your or similar advice.

  28. He didn't have to sing at the Kansas City show. The music was fantastic. I think the fans would have understood. I know I would have.

  29. Seriously this bothers me. I'm taking 2 newbies to shows next week and it's going to suck if his voice is still bad. I'd rather him reschedule the shows, we've waited this long a little longer wouldn't kill us. It'd be better for all of us, I know I have gone through hell securing money for all the shows I'm going to and I'd like to get my moneys worth. On top of that and most importantly is any type of serious vocal chord damage 'ala Siouxsie Sioux' She got sick, and it screwed up her voice and now she can't hit any notes and requires back up singers. The Cure with back up singers...no thanks.

  30. Hector: I feel you man. I'm taking a total of 5 newbies next week. It would really be disapointing if Robert's voice was not the same.
