  1. morning from oz craig...this service you provide make us feel a little like we're on tour with the band...its excellent!! and as i tuck into breakfast on my couch with my kiddies running around, this is definitely THE way to tour with a band...in comfort...

  2. Saturday night show, lucky bums !!!

    I call Plainsong :P

    ReplyDelete
  3. I second what ml68 said. It is a fabulous way to spend a Sunday morning - tea in hand, the morning paper and speakers at the ready.

Craig, I've said it before, and will say it over and over again - COF rocks.

    Future Girl

  4. is this going to be an update every 3 songs or so again? not complaining! im just happy this is even happening

    ReplyDelete
  5. I say they open with "Open"!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Don't know for sure. Have 2 reporters, so it should be "live". Cure haven't started yet. They are on central time now.

ML68 and Future Girl - Thank you very much, but this site would be nothing without all of the great fans doing reports and sending in info.

  7. I'm calling Plainsong too. And Strange Day.

Listening to WXRT from Chicago and they're playing The Only right now.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I suspect Plainsong again, but would love Want.

    ReplyDelete
  9. i think robert will finally break out the new keytar and win back all the respect he's lost over the years.

    ReplyDelete
  10. if he's out there rocking out on a keytar like a member of journey i'll...

    i don't know what i'll do.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Wow, Frankie & Angie, could be a coincidence but probably not. Craig, let them know Andy from SoCal says hello.

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yikes.

There is a 11PM Curfew tonight, and they are behind schedule getting on stage :(

    ReplyDelete
  13. Robert will just pay the fines. : )

    ReplyDelete
  14. i dont recall a curfew at ths venuwe

    ReplyDelete
  15. Is it weird to have the pre-concert buzz even though I am on the opposite side of the world?

    ReplyDelete
  16. also...craig. you really rule as far as cure info....and NIN

    ReplyDelete
  17. Venue says no curfew, up to the band. Schedule at venue says 8-11.

    ReplyDelete
  18. No way, NIN Hotline all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  19. pre concert buzz...however it comes, its the only way to be (and generally the best part)

    ReplyDelete
  20. OK...the first time i saw the cure was this venue...they always play late!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Late start = Robert adding many last minute surprises...I hope.

    ReplyDelete
  22. craig...tell me about the haunted door...NIN wise

    ReplyDelete
  23. by this time i'd be crying and screaming like a 12 year old in anticipation.

    ReplyDelete
  24. And here they come...chimes.

    ReplyDelete
  25. we were right :). Plainsong..

    ReplyDelete
  26. remember the days when they used to open with the first track of their new album....not that im nostalgic but....

    ReplyDelete
  27. First time poster here! I was at the Boston and Montreal shows, and want to add my two cents about setlists. I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if it was almost identical to other recent shows. Reason being, the songs that the Chain-of-Flowers types love don't get nearly the same response from the crowd as the greatest hits do. The biggest roar of the night (and by far) was for Close to Me during the "pop encore" in Montreal, which was obviously a disappointing encore for me, being one of the COF types myself!

    ReplyDelete
  28. eric, hi! just as i suspected. we were talking about why they dont play more b-sides on tour...because most people at the shows are casual fans :\

    ReplyDelete
  29. music for the masses as it were...

    ReplyDelete
  30. I can kind of understand why they do it - but forgiveness comes when they throw in a new song or a favourite - fingers crossed for that often talked about Faith encore.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I was sitting next to a guy who saw every show in Montreal (but only in Montreal) since Prayer Tour on one side (he travelled to see Curiosa because he saw no show for Bloodflowers) and the guy on the other side next to me was a first timer. And I had really good seats, 20 rows back Simon side. It makes sense, when you think about it... how many bands to you follow around to see? For me, just The Cure and Lisa Germano (if she counts as a band). Almost everyone there wants to hear songs they know, and/or the very best songs in the catalog (like Push WHICH CAN'T BE BEAT LIVE!!! F*king AWESOME!!!), and almost everyone is only going to one show.

    ReplyDelete
  32. No Strange Day? Maybe later?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Then "End of the World", Then "Love Song"...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Eric - I love PUSH live - it is fantastic. I include it in my list of songs that came to life at a concert, along with Jumping Someone Else's Train - I always liked it before, but after the concert, I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. god i want to hear all cats are grey this minute...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yep, Night. Looks like they're getting the Boston set.

    ReplyDelete
  37. PUSH is definitely one of the best songs live! And The Kiss.

Sunday morning here too, just woke up and ready to have my breakfast...

    ReplyDelete
  38. now that porl's back you think they'll whip out the sax. i'd love to hear a 20 minute psyched out version of icing sugar.

    ReplyDelete
  39. having been a fan since the 80's I'm quite liking the sets. I'm totally loving the Disintegration, THOTD stuff.. I could do without a Friday I'm in Love, but waddya do ???

Vancouver, May 26 !!! pray for a Plainsong opening for us :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. It was short-lived, I'm wrong already!

    ReplyDelete
  41. a wrench? isnt the walk usually encore fodder this time around?

    ReplyDelete
  42. It's about time for a new song...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Maybe we will get the new song that they played at sound check the other day - WISHful thinking

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's really just basic market research. You play the songs that got the loudest screams the previous night. They are NOT selling out AT ALL. They are just playing what the majority of paying customers want to hear (Disintegration songs and greatest hits). You know which song got the most tepid response of all songs in Boston and Montreal? "The Blood". And it wasn't really even close. Robert obviously knows about us COF types and he will throw us some bones at every show (like Shake Dog Shake, The Blood, Signal to Noise, etc.), but don't expect a set filled with songs like that. Just feel lucky when you get a good one. I am jealous of the folks who got "To Wish Impossible Things" -- one of my favorite songs from that album.

    ReplyDelete
  45. At the Boston show Lovesong was next.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Eric - How do you explain the Dream Tour? : )

    ReplyDelete
  47. I've seem every tour since KMKMKM, has anyone seen the Head on the Door tour?

    ReplyDelete
  48. From Angie: "Robert has a cold or sore throat. Said he hopes the gods he doesn't pray to will smile upon him. Hard for him to talk."

    ReplyDelete
  49. THey seem to be following the Boston show for the most part, which means Sleep When I'm Dead is next, unless we get a totally new song!

    Fingers crossed.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Not surprised about the voice. It was totally shot at the end of Montreal... he basically shouted rather than sang WCIBY (the very last song of the night). Three hours of straight singing is really rough, and it's gonna take a toll eventually. I doubt they will ever play the "old school" encore second again btw (unless it is the last encore, of course) because it really seems to use up what's left of Robert's voice.

    ReplyDelete
  51. a scarf, throat coat tea, and not playing winnipeg is what he needs!

    ReplyDelete
  52. The sore throat may affect the set choices tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  53. To Craig (the AWESOME DUDE... best guy I've never met). I was at four shows during Bloodflowers, and really was pretty much the same as this time, wasn't it? They didn't play as many hits as they are now, but the played mostly the same songs every night, right? I think if you look at the totals, you will see lots of songs played lots of times, and a whole lot more songs played only a few times.... They didn't play as many hits, but I think that's because they thought Bloodflowers was such a great album they didn't need to.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It's pretty freekin hot in Canada today... hope he feels better soon, must suck.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Poor Robert. He shouldn't do POP encore tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  56. ya, that'll CURE him---lol

    ReplyDelete
  57. One last guess, Perfect Boy next?

    ReplyDelete
  58. That's what I have pre-listed. : )

    ReplyDelete
  59. how do people get these setlists anyways ?? after the show,m before.. ?? backstage after the show ????

    ReplyDelete
  60. Eric, I suspect Craig's comment re Dreamtour was aimed more at the lock of pop (commercially successful) hits and the inclusion of a lot more of the darker more atmospheric material. Not for the 'casual' fan.

    ReplyDelete
  61. It seems like they're due for a new tune =)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Nah, I just keep looking at the Boston set, which means From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea should be next =)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yep.

The song choices on the dream tour were so good, none of us really cared we were hearing the same things every night.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Interesting. They ARE playing the Boston set! Maybe with different encores?

    ReplyDelete
  65. The Dream Tour was awesome for us COFers in that regard, and I think (although I have no idea, really) that Robert and Co. were of the mind that since Bloodflowers was as good as Pornography and Disintegration, it warranted a tour that was deeper in the catalog. I think album sales were disappointing, weren't they? They might have realized that the most money was to be made by playing more hits. Again, I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING, but as they say, opinions are like a**holes...

    ReplyDelete
  66. They weren't kidding when they named it The Dream Tour. I'll never forget those 10 shows. The feeling after every show that you HAD to go to the next one.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Craig: Which show(s) are you going to this tour?

    ReplyDelete
  68. V - as of today, zero. Many reasons for that, but I'm hoping to make up for it later. We'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Aw Craig, the idea that you're not going to catch a show bums me out and just seems very wrong =(

    ReplyDelete
  70. Craig: That really sucks. :( But at least you can kind of experience them vicariously by doing this (and in the process, help all of us do the same). :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. JPX: I agree, it does feel wrong. :(

    ReplyDelete
  72. Craig, did you ever get my e-mail about being willing to text the songs in for Montreal? I got a restricted call, but when I answered, I heard nothing. It was probably a good thing for me anyways; it would have cost a fortune, being a foreign country and all...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Craig, you need to get to a damn show! Christ, Robert should give you free tickets!

    The Only One next?

    ReplyDelete
  74. By the way, as a "classically trained vocalist" (heh), I think the Faith encore is the only realistic choice for Robert in his current sore-throated state if he wants to preserve his voice for the rest of the tour. ;) And I prescribe it for Wednesday night as well!

    ReplyDelete
  75. It's not money, is it? Because if it is, I'll send you some. I'm not a wealthy man by any stretch, but I could chip in kind of as payment for this website....

    ReplyDelete
  76. He could just do some Lost Wishes for the encores =)

    ReplyDelete
  77. If it's money, I'll chip in too!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I just wanted to respond to Eric by saying that it's a vicious cycle, right? If hardcore fans expect more mainstream-friendly songs they don't like, they're less likely to go and if bell weather fans expect hits, they're more likely to.

U2 suffers from this problem. They want to sell tons of tickets quickly and have big hype, but often exclude their best songs from setlists because they hate the sight of bored bell weather fans. But, maybe if they didn't go, hardcore fans like myself would be able to get tickets. Bands should play what they really want, not mostly what the audience wants, especially if that audience is too lazy to try to even listen to more obscure songs. I'm not a huge Prince or Fleetwood Mac fan, but love their singles and wouldn't think it's my right to only hear unchallenging singles.

The band needs to ask who's buying their albums? Bell weather fans are far less likely to.

To Craig, am I doing something wrong with this radio station streaming? I don't hear the 1990 show -- just songs, a DJ and ads...

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Does anyone else think that "Sleep When I'm Dead" sounds a little bit like "A Man Inside My Mouth" during one part? (The part of that song where he says "I couldn't hold it down another second...")

    ReplyDelete
  80. No, no, no. I'm fine. It just doesn't "feel right" this time. Don't ask me why, I'm just an idiot. : )

    ReplyDelete
  81. Muld - 11pm. It's not on yet.

    ReplyDelete
  82. v, interesting! Good ear! Craig, "feel right", is this an OCD thing?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Yay, "Push". Jason kicks ass on this one. :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. Uh oh, here comes JPX the psychologist. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  85. Craig, good, because if it was, I was going to treat you!

    ReplyDelete
  86. To quote a wise man "Remember, this can't been done again next month or next year. There's
no guarantee they'll ever be in Australia (America) again. You have to do it now!"
That was you, Craig. Don't regret missing out.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  88. i'm a prince fan and i love his singles but he ALWAYS manages to surprise the hardcore fans. always. i have never been disappointed.
does anyone remember that rolling stone (?) article where they compare robert smith to prince. they both had the double albums out at the time, too...

    ReplyDelete
  89. Eric - I don't think I got your e-mail.

    ReplyDelete
  90. IMHO muldfeld The Cure need to pack as many people in as possible if they want to keep playing venues this size. The concerts are not selling out as it is, and us concertgoers are getting older (I'm 37) and are have families, careers, etc. which interfere with traveling distances to go to shows. They need casual fans to pay the bills! I LOVE U2 btw. Saw them twice (1991 and 2000), but usually don't even try to get tickets because I WON'T PAY A SCALPER.

    ReplyDelete
  91. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Jo - but that's part of it, I don't think I will regret it at all.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Eric: I think the show in Denver may be sold out...(tickets are no longer available via Ticketmaster for a week or two now)

    ReplyDelete
  94. I'm pretty sure Boston sold out.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Thanks, Andy. I mess that up, sometimes. I'm on the East Coast. It's earlier there, not later. Got it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. Hollywood Bowl and Austin are sold out.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Craig, I can kind of understand. I don't regret my decision not to go to all the Oz concerts, but knew after the Perth show I needed to see them One More Time. Your advice got me to Adelaide for the best night ever!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Craig, were you friends with Roger and/or Perry? It seems as though you were really hurt by the way they were let go. I understand your feelings, btw. I forgive Robert, but I love him "slighty, only slightly less than I used to" because of it. It did seem like there were more frowns than smiles during Curiosa, and you gotta love what yer doin'. Also 'creative differences' is understandable when you have two talented people wanting to go in very opposite directions... I must have been tough.

    ReplyDelete
  99. jpx can i tell you about my childhood?

craig, what has been your favorite cure show youve ever been to?

    everyone else, too!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Fair enough, Eric. Unlike U2, The Cure might not have enough hardcore fans to sell tickets. But how the heck does playing "alt.end", "The End of the World", "Never Enough", "Wrong Number" help? Those aren't very good and no bell weather fans know or like them. He could at least replace those!

The Europeans were so lucky! I guess I was lucky, too, because I got 35 songs -- just not AS lucky! :)

Speaking of scalpers, on my way to the show, some dickhead tried to sell me a 4th row Cure ticket. As I asked him the price and then walked away, he shouted he'd accept half price. Imagine that scum (or the scum who gave it to him) taking away a ticket from a real fan just to make a profit and not even being able to do that. So tragic!

    ReplyDelete
  101. JPX - New Orleans.

Eric - Yes, very good friends with Roger.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Sofia, you certainly can, but I'm not that kind of shrink, I'm a cognitive-behavioral therapist, which means I only focus on the here and now. =)

    ReplyDelete
  103. There were some empty seats in Boston, not good ones though. I think that they planned this tour very well in terms of where to play. Scalpers are having a hard time AND the places are full. Perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Craig, cool! I lived in Pensacola for a few years and loved it there =)

    ReplyDelete
  105. Eric - I still hate how Roger, Perry and Daryl (don't forget Daryl!) were treated.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Sofia: I have 2 favorite Cure shows:

1992 - Wish Tour - my first Cure show. My mom camped out for tickets with me (I was 13) and we got 3rd row seats! We got to the venue early and were there to hear the sound check (from outside) and went inside just when the doors opened. On our way to our seats, I spotted these two guys sitting on about the 8th row on the floor, and I was like, "Hmm, I think I know those guys, but I can't figure out who they are." While I was trying to figure it out, my feet started moving very quickly: they figured out before my brain did that it was Simon and Boris!! So I ran up to them and said, "Hi!" :)

2000 - Dream Tour - My 2nd show. I still liked them, but I didn't realize how much they still meant to me until I saw Robert and Simon take the stage and suddenly my whole life made sense again. It was a cathartic experience for me - I was sure I could die happy that night. :)

    ReplyDelete
  107. V, IMHO the Wish tour was The Cure's Sgt. Peppers!

    ReplyDelete
  108. All I can say about those songs is that they are on Greatest Hits compiliations (or newish albums) and Robert must like them. Also, they sound better live than they do on the record. Robert actually tries for crowd interaction during "Wrong Number" Hello... can you hear me? HELLO... HELLO!!! It only kinda sorta works, but it is the most interactive moment of the show (minus Play For Today, where they DEPEND on us for the keyboards!)

    ReplyDelete
  109. Favourite Cure Show - Sadly, I've only seen them live three times.
The first was Dreamtour, Perth Australia - where I discovered another side to the band and went on a journey through their back catalogue (that's when I became as Cure tragic).
For total experience, Adelaide 2007 - spontaneous decision to go, ended up in the front row - very cool.

    ReplyDelete
  110. P.S. Sofia - what is your favorite show? :)

    ReplyDelete
  111. jpx, i gotta tell you- i think you're the best sort. i feel like jungian therapy and psychoanalysis work to focus on keeping people solopsistic. like woody allen! ;)
i feel like my therapist is like a personal assistant. i don't mean that in a crass way, but i find it's much better to have weekly short term goals and move forward instead of perseverating the past.

    /too much information

    ReplyDelete
  112. altr2elise: How'd you end up on the front row at such short notice? :) Was it Gen Admin, or did you have an amazing stroke of luck? :)

    ReplyDelete
  113. v, well i think the wish tours were the best for me. theres something about the atmosphere of those gigs that were absolutely out of body for me. i was with people i loved and i was really close to the stage and the people all around me were huge cure fans. it was pretty transcendent! :)

    ReplyDelete
  114. Sofia: Which Wish shows were you at? The atmosphere was really good at the one I went to, I agree - it was a magical experience for me. :)

    ReplyDelete
  115. v - it was general admission. But I still consider myself EXTREMELY lucky to have jagged such a good spot - right Inbetween Robert and Simon.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Wouldn't it be funny if they played "Wrong Number" next? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  117. Sofia, you rock! I agree with you. Goal-oriented therapy is the only way to go. Also, I love the word "perseverate" and I'm impressed to hear you use it! Clearly you've been in CBT =)

    ReplyDelete
  118. altr2elise: That sounds like the most perfect spot in the house to me! :) Lucky!

    ReplyDelete
  119. I forgot they inserted "The Only One" between those two... :)

    ReplyDelete
  120. "EXTREMELY lucky to have jagged such a good spot" I love the expressions you guys use!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Craig - The two nights in New Orleans for the Dream Tour were wonderful. My first time meeting the band and being in the pit.

    ReplyDelete
  122. God, am I the only one who hasn't met The Cure?

    ReplyDelete
  123. Wow, JPX, I used to think you were cool. But now I know you're just a non-Cure-meeting loser. :P ;) Heehee.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I haven't met them... wouldn't know what to say, and have nothing to say to them that they would have the slightest interest in hearing. I try to refrain from 'idol worhip' as well... don't think it's particularly healthy.

    ReplyDelete
  125. jpx: The LOL was due to the comment about expressions - not that you haven't met the band, I haven't been able to "jag" that either.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Okay, here's "Wrong Number" (which I actually like live... JPX, does this mean I need therapy? ;) )

    ReplyDelete
  127. Awe, v, I know I'm a non-Cure meeting loser, but I'd probably be a deer in the headlights if I was ever given the opportunity =)

    ReplyDelete
  128. Hello? Can you hear me???? HELLO...

    ReplyDelete
  129. No way, v, I really like Wrong Number as well, which means we're both sane =) I was less impressed with it being played live though.

    ReplyDelete
  130. JPX: That was totally me. All I could muster was, "Hi!" and the whole time I was so worried that I had overstepped some boundary by running up to them that I must have had the most silly expression on my face. Luckily they were very nice about it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  131. v: i was at the phoenix and one of the san diego shows
    where are/were you?

jpx: i'm working on it right now. :) i've done all sorts of therapies but this actually works to motivate me. i felt like talking about the past was just keeping me muddled all the time. there was nothing really to work through. it was the past and i was ignoring the this-minute completely.
i really have so much admiration for what you do! my dr is amazing. i dont know how you put up with us ;)

    ReplyDelete
  132. Have a good day/evening/night everyone. I have to go. Nice talking to you all!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Damnit, v, you met them too? How does this happen? You guys meet The Cure while I'm waiting in a long line to buy an $8 bottle of water!

    ReplyDelete
  134. To be fair, Wrong Number is kind of fun to listen in live...but that's my opinion. :P

    ReplyDelete
  135. Sofia, you're a sweetie! I love what I do and the reason I was drawn to CBT was because people get better with it. It appeals to logic =)

    ReplyDelete
  136. Good night, Eric! Great hearing from you =)

    ReplyDelete
  137. ugh...you guys, my boyfriend (at the time) was awesome enough to get us backstage passes at the milwaukee wms show and we didn't use the passes. i'm not going to tell you why. or where my dignity went. but i just couldn't do it.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Sofia, no fair teasing us with that statement!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Sofia: I'm in Denver now, but I was at the Orlando Wish show (used to live in Florida).

JPX: I haven't met Robert, if that makes you feel any better. :)

    ReplyDelete
  140. Favorite Shows

New Orleans 2000 (1st night) soundcheck - Magic like that happens once in a lifetime.

Dallas 1989 - My first Prayer Tour show and my second Cure show. Unbelievable. Best live band I had ever seen. The crowd set fires on the lawn during the encores. No one left. : )

Hard Rock Live Taping NYC 1999 - Whenever I hear Out of This World, I think of that night and those fantastic days in NYC.

Dallas/Chicago/New Orleans 1 & 2 2000 - It was The Dream Tour! The other 6 shows were good too, but these were my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Craig, you've had some awesome experiences! I feel like such a nerd, I've never been privy to a soundcheck nor have I ever seen a taping.

    ReplyDelete
  142. jpx, god its too embarrassing!
i'm....sigh. i'm one of "those" curegirlfans. with the crying and the screaming and the security keeping their eye on me and the black bob haircut. you know....those.
i just freaked out! and i thought it would ruin the illusion/delusion (?)

gah! but i still regret it. i'm so lame...
still have the pass though! maybe i'll flash it this time around and hope they don't notice the wish era logo :p

    ReplyDelete
  143. Sofia: I'm honestly surprised that I didn't burst in to tears when I ran into Simon. :) I'm such a freak. I don't usually scream or make a fuss, but sometimes I will just start crying and will not be able to explain or control it. I'm afraid that would happen to me too if I ever had a backstage pass. I guess it's just really easy for me to become emotionally overwhelmed, and then there's not much I can do about it but make a fool of myself. Lame! :D

  144. Sofia, you're hilarious! At least you have the pass, which is a cool souvenir. Don't feel too bad, I'd probably have the male version of that, which means I'd stare at the ground and mumble incoherently. The next day I'd tell everyone I had a great conversation with Robert =)

  145. So are we taking bets for encore 1?

    ReplyDelete
  146. v, if I haven't said it before, you rock!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Aww, thanks, JPX. So do you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  148. Against the odds, I've got 10 on The Kiss encore.

    ReplyDelete
  149. The first Boston encores were Lovecats, Freakshow, Close To Me, Why Can't I Be You?

    ReplyDelete
  150. Craig: That feels right to me, too, for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I have to admit I had considered bidding on the Amnesty Tickets in Perth so that I could go backstage for a meeting, but then realised that I would be the girl standing in the corner, thinking "Oh my god, there's Robert", but too embarrassed to go over and say anything.

    ReplyDelete
  152. what we're taking bets here? i'm a gambling girl myself. if craig says it's the kiss encore...

    ReplyDelete
  153. Can someone tell about the difference between european and us shows? Have you all to take a seat? In europe you can stand in front of the stage where you want to.

    ReplyDelete
  154. If Craig says The Kiss encore, it will be pop. : )

    ReplyDelete
  155. v: was he nice? he's the most intimidating for me, i think.
    what DID you say?

jpx, dude! if you consider abject failure hilarious ;)
aww...i don't know how people remain composed when they meet their "idols"
    anyhow. maybe theyre just drunk!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Bernie: I think there are more general admission shows in Europe. I was very surprised at the Berlin show that there was general admission both for the floor and for the seats - I don't know if I've been to a show in the States where you can just sit wherever you want. But sometimes you can stand where you want. Does that make any sense at all? :)

    ReplyDelete
  157. Bernie, usually assigned seating in the US.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Sofia, I agree, in this kind of situation being drunk probably helps. I'm drinking wine as I type this =)

    ReplyDelete
  159. Oh Wow. The Kiss encore!

I love love love If Only Tonight We Could Sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Sofia: He was soooo nice. A bit shy, but he had the kindest smile. Boris seemed a bit impatient and weirded out by my strange mom who was saying, "Boris! It's Boris! Hi, Boris!" (We had just had the "Who would you meet if you could meet anyone in the band?" conversation, and she had chosen Boris and I had chosen Simon, so it was a very bizarre coincidence for us. :) ) But anyway, all I said was Hi. I think they expected me to say/want more, but were relieved that I just wanted to say hello and then let them go about their business.

  161. i say 'give me it' will be in this encore

because i have no feelers. and no cash.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Sofia - Simon is incredibly nice. When Roger introduced him to me, he had the greatest, nicest smile ever. Made you feel like he was genuinely glad to meet you.

    ReplyDelete
  163. v,you are a cool chick! I love your candor =) Yay, a Kiss encore!!!

    ReplyDelete
  164. @jpx Is it because of safty reasons? And do you have to stay there the whole show?

    ReplyDelete
  165. Bernie, I believe it is a safety issue, but no, you can leave any time you want to.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Craig: That is exactly how I felt when I ran into him. :) He spotted me in the audience later that show (I was right in front of him) and gave me that same smile a few more times.

    ReplyDelete
  167. craig and v: oh thats heartening :) i've met other musicians i really care for and theyve been total jerks!
lou reed the most notable example!

that same night i met lauren bacall! and she was a total bitch (not to me, just in general) and i didn't care not one whit because i adore her! :D

  168. The Kiss - Every time I hear this it reminds me of the first time I watched the Trilogy dvd and realised what a fantastic guitar player Robert is.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Robert before 1st encores : "I apologize for my fucking voice being awful"

    ReplyDelete
  170. altr2elise: The first time I ever saw "The Kiss" was at their Hamburg show the night before Trilogy was filmed, and it was one of the most intense experiences of my life. I could barely breathe! I was so happy that they included it on Trilogy so I could relive it. :D I hope they will play it on Wednesday!!

    ReplyDelete
  171. :) kiss mex3 was my first cure cassette so i'm really hoping we get some of this in ny

    ReplyDelete
  172. I met Robin Williams and Matt Damon when they were filming Good Will Hunting. Williams was really nice, Damon was an arrogant jerk.

    v,it's true!

    ReplyDelete
  173. Robert's vocal issues aside, is there a chance for 4 encores tonight since there is no curfew?

    ReplyDelete
  174. v - I am so envious. I thought about going to Trilogy, but for all the right reasons (at the time) decided against it. Knowing what I know now, I really wish I had taken the leap.

    ReplyDelete
  175. v, it's possible Robert will go the extra mile given that his voice has been sub-par, although 4 encores is almost unheard of!.
